All India Coordinated Research Project on Agrometeorology (AICRPAM)
The All India Coordinated Research Project on Agrometeorology (AICRPAM) was
initiated by ICAR in May 1983 with the establishment of the Coordinating Cell at the
Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad and 12 Cooperating Centres
at various State Agricultural Universities. After a detailed review and evaluation of the
progress made by the project and realizing the importance of agrometeorological research
support for enhancing food production, ICAR had extended the Cooperating Centres to an
additional 13 Agricultural Universities of the country w.e.f. April 1995. The 25 Cooperating
Centres of the AICRPAM network are: Akola, Anantapur, Anand, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar,
Chatha, Dapoli, Faizabad, Hisar, Jabalpur, Jorhat, Kanpur, Kovilpatti, Ludhiana, Mohanpur,
Palampur, Parbhani, Raipur, Ranchi, Ranichauri, Samastipur, Solapur, Thrissur, Udaipur
and Vijayapura (Fig 1.1). In 2023, five new voluntary centres viz., Barapani, Bikaner,
Jhansi, Shimoga, and Srinagar, were included in the existing network. The Quinquennial
Review Team has reviewed the research progress of the project in 1992, 1998-99, 2006,
2011, 2017 and 2023. In the last QRT Report, the performance of the AICRPAM was
adjudged as Outstanding.
